Wood House

substitution of wood in my house – vs. regular cedar wood treated?
We have cedar on the exterior of our house. He is old and needs replacing. What are the advantages and disadvantages of replacing the cedar wood treated vs? Does cedar last much longer? Is it much more expensive? I live in Florida, where the climate makes the difference? Someone suggested I just go with vinyl, but who are in bad taste in a ranch house? Thanks for any input you can provide!
The climate makes the difference, as desired. Cedar is naturally resistant to insects and lasts long time. Of all the routes available natural wood, cedar is relatively the best …. meaning, there are better, but the alternatives are very expensive, as would be redwood. Cedar not cheap, but is more affordable than the second, and is excellent (I plan to put cedar siding on my house.) And I work in old houses to live their restoration, so I know enough about the replacement of siding. "Treated wood" … not sure what you mean. To my knowledge, no "pressure treated "designed for wood siding, but I am only made aware of the decks and general construction. I live in New England. I think which is always good to have your eyes open for new and better products, however, so not only in what I say here. If I lived in Florida, and if you decide to go with cedar, would be less inclined to go with cedar shakes, because hurricane winds (which would be more inclined to be swept). Instead go with the coating regular cedar, but is a completely different (NO Finger …. is structurally weaker in the long run.) It is not known precisely their position, I can not really recommend for sure, but if it were my house, and depending on the neighborhood, I also consider aluminum siding, especially if it rains a lot down there (which would be the climate of confrontation to the wood in the long run.) Since vinyl has entered the scene, has become less popular, however I see it as superior in several respects (although both have their strengths and weaknesses.) My neighbor has aluminum siding on your house, and it's been there from day one, (40 or 50 years) and is ready again with the exception of the painting is original and just disappeared (you can now see more or less metal.) It is not peeling, but just vanished. If the house were painted professionally, would like a new job covering the brand!. And the falls as they do not exist when the painting of a wooden house, no scraping, but a quick powerwash (if painting even necessary) and the new one should look immaculate. However, I have never heard painting vinyl siding … not that you could not do. A drop in aluminum is that if you throw a rock, or hit hard with a shovel or a sharp object, it will dent, so if you have kids playing around, maybe not the best. But you can set the students and would set a dent in a car, only it would be like try to paint the ceiling after seeing … the patch to be displayed (up to paint the entire section.) Finally … …. vinyl which is good, especially economic, but in the aspect of what we are is the fall … But there are many different styles that are available, just research on your own. Good luck!
