Border Collies excel and dominate the sport. BUT, people who have not had vests vests before, and especially those that have not made before the agility, tend to do very poorly with BCS-worse than it would have made a different race. Many of them drop out, and dogs or end up languishing in a house not agility, or go to an instructor or more experienced-driver can really do well with the dog. For people getting a dog to do agility, I recommend go with a race that already have or go with a sporting dog, but quite a few Cockers doing very well and has not seen many HD issues on genetic resources and laboratories. Mini poodles are another good bet, they tend to overjump, but not usually a problem for them. Shelties are great if you're used to, but many are timid and Some dogs are just too much for a rookie driver. JRTs are a great option if you are willing to deal with a mentality terrier.
