Solid Wood

How to paint a solid wood dresser?
Hello! I bought a nice, solid wood dresser bright orange, and want costumes to be white. Do not just paint over the orange? Or is there a safe way to get the orange out? I want to be a kind shabby chic paint job, therefore prefer to take the orange.
I redo furniture all the time. Use "zip strip" to remove old paint orange. Put plastic, Of course, under it, in an open area and use plastic gloves. A good coat and leave, maybe thirty minutes then scrub with a flat knife. Can have to do it again. Then wipe with a damp cloth (or washing) and clean it, remove the remaining paint now you have to seal the wood after to dry well. Use a good sealer as KILZ "and after that is dry, sand lightly to get the features outlined. Put a coat of pain or stain. Then you may have to repaint. If your satisfaction then clean and I use "Turtle Wax" car wax, a hard wax, until the end.
