Eating for weightloss and strength gain?
I’m a college track and field athlete and am a shot put and discus thrower. During the offseason I’m working out with a weightlifting and a throwing routine. But I’ve also added cardio to lose some weight. For a typical day, I work 8 hours for the park service doing trail maintence: alot of raking and hauling brush. Then afterwards I go throw, followed by lifting. Later in the evening, after dinner, I do cardio: something like jumping rope for 30 mins, run 2 miles, or ride a bike 10 miles. I’m not sure what I should be eating so I don’t run out of fuel and then have my muscle build start to break down. Should I eat some protein and complex carbs, like a turkey sandwich on wheat before lifting, and then do some more carbs like an english muffin before my cardio session? I want to lose some weight, but I also don’t want to undo the work I do in the weightroom.
Please set aside 10 minutes of your time for prayer or just meditation on daily basis. I assure you you lose weight. secondly protein food is good for reducing but throw in simple carbs immediately there after your meal to compensate straining of digestive system and reduce metabolic rate.Your strength training regimen will increase muscle cells/tissue and that will burn more calories than normal flabby person. by the explanation you gave you are on the right track. Aside the answer to your question I venture to add -don’t overwork your joints lest there is a chance getting joint problems later in life. But if it is career you are after then let us think about the future later and make corrective programs. All the very best.
