Is it better to train a pit bull on his own, or hire a professional dog trainer?

Also, what is the best age at which to begin to train a pit bull?

Personally I suggest to the owner of any breed to work under the guidance of a professional, whether in private or group lessons. They also prefer group classes for those aspects of socialization. As for when beginning, training should begin on Day 1 with your puppy. Simple things like teaching to respond to her name, how to sit and lie down, a simple short-term memory (to come), etc. As for formal training, to join a basic obedience class your dog must be at least 4 months old and have all their shots. I'm not quite sure what the requirements for kindergarten a "puppy" class type. Personally I have not done one in the past, but having learned from them during the past years, I believe it is worth considering. Obedience clubs research local in their area, they usually list the requirements on their websites.
