Degenertive disc disease?
I was diagnosed with disc disease Degenertive a while back through X-ray and MRI I made yesterday to have a discogram. I learned that I have 2 discs (L4-5 and L5 and S1) that are damaged and broken. And Dis L3 has a tear in the same also that the doctor knew nothing. In addition, the doctor said I have unusually large disks that you have never seen. I am in great pain. Does anyone else here has had the same issues? If so, what would be the next step surgery? I have an appointment with my orthopedic DR soon.
There are two people in my office who have this problem (without large disk). A person has the problem in the lumbar region, and the other has in the neck and lower back. Both have had surgery to lumbar vertebrae to relieve pain. The problem is the neck is not at this time because available treatments would be to limit neck movement. One person had small tubes inserted to keep the pressure off the nerves that emerge from the spine. This procedure completely eliminated the nerve pain, but she gets some stiffness in his back and spine, but she says its nothing compared to the nerve pain I had before. The other person had several of his vertebrae fused. He said that this great work for the first 10-15 years, but after problems in the disc below the fusion albums, and the pain creeps back in She's trying to solve the problem through yoga, which does not solve the problem, but seems to reduce pain to tolerable levels. The ortho doc probably will present several options, and things like this are a difficult decision. Here are some links to information on the following:
