large dog supplies

How to help an animal rescue group effectively? Cheap supplies?
Im volunteering with an animal shelter (possibly two) around the area we live in, I had to wait about 3 years since I was 13 to volunteer, either way I have planned fund-raising, but I had hoped to provide supplies. Looking around trying to develop a shopping list I found I could get leashes, collars, toys, candy and even kitty litter in the dollar store. Wal Mart has many other items you may need for a cheap price. I wondered what kind of larger supplies were more Cheap. Like dog houses, pet beds, etc.. or where can I find items to help in the rescue. Also, if you volunteer or work with a shelter, How to go about getting their supplies? Thank you.
Also, this is only for planning purposes, because I have a job yet. I have put in applications and interviews pending. There would be about $ 100 a month if I get one of the jobs they apply for the rescue, so my monthly budget would be $ 110.
Food is also a great need. Every time you see a dog / cat food for sale, pick up a bag. You can also collect food stamps Pet of people who know. In this way the food is even cheaper for you to buy. Also its canvas the local thrift stores and yard / garage sale to cheaper boxes. Never can have more boxes! The same goes for blankets.
