What are some similar traits between house cats and wild cats?
Im doing a project and im comparing house cats with the wild cats such as mountain lions and tigers and i need some similar traits between house cats and wild cats like fur patterns, size, anything really
If you don’t count size, all felid species have a remarkably similar body plan. Scale up a domestic cat, and you basically have a leopard or tiger – scale down a tiger and you have an ocelot or a margay. The reason is that they have numerous features that make them very efficient predators – strong, shortened jaws, large canine teeth, claws that are kept sharp by being retractile (except in the case of the cheetah, whose claws are only semi-retractile), etc. These features are shared by all cats because all cats are predators. The felids have taken a successful design and produced a number of species in a number of sizes to take advantage of various different prey animals.
