Personal experience of the owners of Border Collie pet?
I have a puppy for my 15th birthday, and I get in a couple of weeks, once the old enough. Yes, I realize Border Collies are not your average household pet. They are very high maintenance because they freak need to be active and busy. I understand;). Yes, they are native-born workers. Understood. I met the parents of the puppies, and the breeder. She said parents are more relaxed than most Border Collie, so that the puppies will most likely be the case. So … yes. Also, I have no life. I have the energy. I do not live in an apartment, so we have the room. I am willing to run for hours with this dog. So … I understand all that. So my question is, people who own such animals BC company (but not to raise them or professionally trained personal experience, is there any advice I can give training on them? Books should I read? Supplies I might need? Thanks! ^ – ^
Listen well I'm 16 and my BC is 9 months old. I wanted a border collie since I can remember. Research online and books brought about race. When my parents finally said yes to me getting a puppy I could not believe. I was so excited I found an ad in the local newspaper for registered purebred puppies and had a look. It was love at first sight and we were to pick my child up next week. When finally came the day I picked up my puppy and took him home, but I was far from happy. Millions of thoughts raced through my head, "What do I have to." She cried at night and was so strong that my whole family keeps awake. He slept all day and was shy of strangers. He would not walk into a place and did not like pickup. My first month with him was filled with the worst and best feelings in the world. 7 months on and I know I made the right decision to get a border collie. I trained my border collie for many tricks and of course, good manners. I thought gosh be BC'll pick it up so easy but I found it was different than training a dog nomal did not need the training to keep him happy. I brought some puppy training books, but my advice would be to find a training routine that fits you and your dog. Find out what he likes about the mine likes chicken and schmakos. He does nothing for her. And never give up. Dont wait miricals And do not expect things happen quickly. A good device to use is a clicker. Aa his little thing you hold in your hand and every time your puppy does the right click it and give you a gift. Soon accociate click with a reward and right. It makes teaching new things soooooo easy and I garentee it will work. My border collie knows how to sit, stay, drop, come, shake hands, wave, roll, go to a certain place, and still learning. But apart from his own house training i recommend training of obedience and other activities stimutating as flyball, agility, tracking or more commonly for BCs frisbee! I'm sure he'll do well. Good Luck with your new best friends! Read more about clickers in http://www.clickertraining.com/-lo that any typographical error was quick! = O)
