how to start a no kill shelter dog?
I begin to not kill a small shelter for bully dog breeds. I have 5 years exp. working in one, so I know how they work and how to run I do not know the legal side of it or what you need to get before opening one oy live in California, so if anyone have or know that you can find what I really appreciate it
You need to get their state-Profit (501C3) and a kennel liscence. You need to get a vet to work with you and an attorney for contracts and liability. It will also require insurance. EDIT: Sarah is misinformed … While it may be the case with some shelter / Resuce not all. I promoted by a non-kill shelter for years. Once the dog was in our care is maintained until he found his home and died of natural causes (the dogs that were sick because if the only humane option) osme were dogs who had been with the rescue for many years.
