Is there anyway you can tell if your dog is depressed?
When I'm home, my dog is around and really only recently. Occasionally plays with his toys, but most often only found around. Are you depressed? Can dogs get depressed?
Like humans, dogs occasionally suffer bouts of depression. They get mopey, lethargic, stop eating and drinking only a minimal amount of water, stop wanting to play, and even lose drastic amounts of weight. What can cause this in pets? Losing a playmate, especially a home playmate is often a reason for canine depression. That would be Prozac for dogs, or other veterinarian recommended anti-depressants. An increased level of activity, or at least your dog may also be necessary.
