Becoming a certified dog trainer?
How does someone become a dog trainer certified? I have trained my dog and several others, but I would like to have some sort of certification in it. I work with a rescue group and would like to offer volunteer training of dogs to people who adopt this group, but want to be as good as I possibly can on it and want it to be completely legitimate. Are there lessons here and there to be trained, or should I go to school for it? Thanks in advance!
There is no such thing as a "Certified Trainer" dog. Schools are a waste money. Want to learn how to train, then you need to win the competition titles in your dog. If you own a purebred dog, you can gain the obedience, agility and concentration through AKC titles If you own a dog mixbreed, you can gain the obedience, agility and rally titles, through UKC, ASCA and APDT.
