black screen after installing new graphics card?
I just bought my new nvidia 8800 512mb alpha dog. I am sure that the right boxes PCI Express slot. but when I start my computer, my monitor does not turn with it. I've tried to disable the integrated graphics card device management then put in my new graphics card but still does not work. I have already looked through the BIOS, but in a gateway, I can not find an option for the primary video card. and yes, my power supply is good, is a 550 watt. any help would be greatly appreciated. PS-i have a Gateway GT5656 model.
I had a similar problem. But first you need to provide some more details. How do you connect the graphics card to monitor? Are you using VGA or DVI or HDMI? How old is your monitor? How big is your monitor (measured diagonally)? Is the fan card game? Sure you connect the correct power supply to the graphics card, if necessary. Some cards require an additional power cable that connects to a port on the card itself. This problem is usually the result of poor communication between the card and monitor.
