Is it bad for my dog to eat cat food?
I have 2 cats and 1 dog. I buy my dry dog food alone, which has on its own plate. My cats must be dry and canned foods, however, due to the diet of the requirements of one of my cats (he is diabetic). Twice a day my cats get a can of food, and every time you finish eating my dog comes over and finished eating what they do, probably about 1 / 4 or less can do anything. This is twice a day, every day. I never thought this could be bad for my dog, until I read it is very bad for cats to eat dog food, then it makes me wonder. Could this hurt my dog? No special diabetic food you eat or anything, just regular canned Friskies. He does not eat his dry food at all.
It will not hurt your dog, unless excess weight and get uneccessary calories. What is harmful is to feed a dog cat food only. Cats have special requirement for taurine, which has no dog food.
