hybrid junction, linebreed …?
I see people advertising "hybrid" puppies for sale .. such as designer breeds. Pug Beagle X, X dachshund chi, etc. I always thought, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that a hybrid was a cross with two different species – like a domestic dog and a wolf, domestic dog and a coyote, etc. Hybrid – A cross between two different species, right? No designer breeds considered "hybrid" and not "hybrid"??? I thought the domestic dog were the same species. arrrgh, I'm so confused. Any suggestions?
The definition of hybrid, according to the Merriam-Webster is as follows: 1.) "a descendant of two animals or plants of different races, breeds, varieties, species or genera" Just as dogs puggles, labradoodles, etc are actually hybrids, such as sealers / Wolf-hybirds (same, different terms).
