Collar Pet

Leather pet collars not develop an unpleasant smell after a while?
I have found that nylon collars get "Coincidences" after a while due to shaking while scratching pets, so I thought I had just paid the extra money and invest in good leather collars for our dogs and cats. However, I know that skin tends oils and moisture trap, what that nasty smell decomposition. Leather is a good idea long term? If not, could you recommend a nylon material, in addition to that you like better?
One of my Belgian wearing a leather collar that has taken over 1 1 / 2 years and my neck was bearded collie about 8 years before that. No smell except the smell of leather. You can clean leather necklaces with leather cleaner or saddle, nothing thereof.
