Collar Barbwire
Collar Barbwire
Formation of boundaries?

My parents dog is walking off the property. We have 80 hectares. The house is on the edge of the property, so that the line is owned by 100yards home. This is the only place to go. She can not get hurt, is all the trees that way. She is a dog the meeting and want to learn to stay close to his flock, no wonder the opposite direction. Yes it is fenced but with barbed wire fences style old that just drags on. Electric shock collars or underground fences are not an option. He will not use such methods. Once again she will not get hurt out there, just do not want it, it is not our property.

Obviously the property of this size, the fencing will not cut it. And while I I try to be tolerant with all the answers, repeating the things Cesar Millan on "package" and the leader is off base here. Miller is almost everything as a matter of obedience package and very few behavioral problems with dogs are pack and questions about Alpha Dog. 1. Some of this may be a factor breed and individual temperament. For example, a Basenji goes for a walk – that is their nature. A greyhound is going to be distracted by visual things (squirrels or deer hunting). An AC is more likely to stay with the herd. 2. I'm not sure the issue is less about border as it is their flock. Yes, it's a problem if you leave the property. But if it is 79 acres in another direction (eg 79 hectares away from the flock) may still be in your land, but grazing. So my view is that this is not about the limits of consciousness, but instead of herding skills. 3. It would be helpful to see if there is something to the adjacent property could be its attraction. But my suggestion would be to work with her in her pastoral skills. You can actually compete in this. And there are a number of resources (books, web sites, even videos) to be to work on these skills. I think a common misconception is that people assume that because they have a herding breed, therefore, no need of instruction. View American Association of Raza grazing. On their website they have links to training. http://www.stockdog.com/courses/ahba.htm
