how far to cut dog claws so there not to low?

hi i trim my dogs claws every so offen but i am quite scared to do it to low, so i do it little and offen, she has black claws so i cant see how far down i can go. is there anyway of telling how far down u can go? thanks

Not really, what you are doing sounds fine. If her nails are long, or curling round the quick will be further down, so just keep taking them back a little further each time, until they look neat. Another good way to help keep her nails down is to make sure she has a good amount of walking of hard road surface rather than only exercise in a park.
