Why the canine (dogs) are the only species that have been mixed, besides humans?
I refer to them many mixed breeds dogs, but say that in the feline species I've never seen a tiger or a lion mixed with say a kind of snake I never heard of that pairing with an anaconda a python or an eagle owl mating with all of the same species …. wow a liger i not before, …… cool
Taxonomically speaking, animals usually need to be within the same species to reproduce successfully and produce fertile offspring. Mules are the result of breeding horses with donkeys, mules, but are sterile, so it can not generate a mule to a mule. Wolves can breed with dogs because they are of the same species. They share the scientific name of Canus lupus (Canus the genus, species lupus). Domestic dogs are more than a subspecies or variety (ie, "race") of the wolf. Scientific classification Canus Lupis familiarus is. Domestic cats are not within the same species (or even the same genus), such as big cats (lions, tigers, etc.). Ligers (hybrid between lions and tigers) are rare but do occur, but only the females are fertile. All human beings are of the classification of Homo sapiens, with differences explained through various "races" – hence all human races can "cross over". Scientific classification of animals by humans often have gray areas that can not be explained in finite black and white – often in the history of the classification of animals changes as more is learned about the differences or similarities between 2 or more species.
