Can dogs have rheumatoid arthritis?

First of all, rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where your immune system attacks the cartilage in joints and causes degeneration in joint deformities and moderate to severe pain as to be paralyzing and debilitating. Several treatments are available, however. It can strike people of all ages but is most common in the elderly. Never heard of that occurring in a dog, and put your mind at ease is not contagious from person to person or property. There is a type of arthritis that dogs and share however. It is not contagious either. It is called osteoarthritis and comes just when the joints become worn with overuse and age. It is not as disfiguring as the type of rheumatoid but can be very painful.
