Can all record players play all vinyl record sizes?

Does the size (12″, 10″ etc.) matter or will they all play the same?

sarge927 is not 100% correct (sorry)

He is associating speeds with the sizes.

Generally, what he says is right, 12″ usually play at 33 1/3 RPM, 10″ usually at 78 RPM and 7″ usually at 45 RPM.

However there are tons of records that “break the rules,” For example: 12″ singles play at 45 RPM, some 7″ EPs play at 33 1/3 RPM and albums have been released on 10″ vinyl (not shellac) at all speeds.

So, yes, a record player will have no problem playing 12″, 10″ or 7″ records. However, not many turntables can play 78s these days (and you would need a different stylus to play them anyways)
