I think in the context that is used people may shy away from the word "obsessed" because it tends to be associated with a negative effect in the real context, without offending me to him sure, maybe I can be obsessed with dogs. I think your trying to get people admit something here, perhaps some may be in denial about and be too embarrassed to say, but I to go ahead and say that I am passionate about animals of all kinds, even more dogs .. So perhaps the obsession can fall into that category, without the bad thing. Hey there is nothing wrong with having a love for animals, and you should not be ashamed, child or adult to tell.
